Hi friends, this is Ramya from wildturmeric. Today I'm going to make a wonderful neem face pack for my nephew who's suffering from severe acne and scars. Usually this pack contains neem and turmeric but since he is allergic to turmeric, I am making the pack without it. This pack has wonderful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties so it reduces pain and inflammation very very fast. Regular use of this face pack will treat existing acne and also will prevent further occurrences too. For the face pack, collect fresh neem leaves and remove the leaves alone onto a bowl. I am saving the stems to use for making a wonderful antibacterial mouthwash later that would rival all store-bought medicated mouthwashes. This face pack is very very unique as it contains both fresh neem extract and neem powder. Along with it we'll also be using khus root, the same root that is used to make the famous khus sharbat. We call it vetiver in Tamil and we use it extensively for skin care. Combining both neem and vetiver makes this pack very very effective. Heat two cups of water in a bowl. Add in two handful of neem leaves to it. Now take a small bunch of vetiver and add it too. Now boil this mixture. Once it comes to a boil, close with the lid and continue boiling. After six to seven minutes, the water will be infused with the herbs and the colour of the water also would have changed. Now remove from the fire. Let cool completely. Once the extract is cooled completely, strain. Now take the extract in a bowl. Add in a tablespoon of neem powder to it. Add in a tablespoon of besan also called as gram flour. Now mix well till you get a smooth paste. Neem has wonderful antibacterial properties and helps treat acne very fast. If you're not allergic to turmeric, use one part neem powder and half part turmeric powder and skip the besan. It will make this pack even more effective against acne and acne scars. We use vetiver infused water for treating acne and acne scars in our village. Vetiver water is very very soothing on the skin and it helps reduce the inflammation super fast. I'll leave the link to the studies supporting all these claims in the description box below. But for some reason if you don't want to use vetiver, you can use one tablespoon of green tea when boiling neem leaves. Both the leftover water and pack can be stored in the fridge and used later. The water can be used to mix bath powders too. To use, take the pack and apply all over the face and neck. Wait for it to dry and then wash it off. You can use this pack regularly every day till you see good results. Once you see good results, you can continue using it weekly once or twice. It is mid morning now and before the neem stems dry out, I want to make a mouthwash with it. This simple neem mouthwash will be equally effective like any expensive store-bought medicated mouthwashes and I even found a study to prove it and I'll leave the link for it in the description box below. I always get excited when our traditional remedies are backed by research as it gives everyone the confidence to try these remedies. For the mouthwash, cut the stems into small pieces so it helps them release their essence into the water fast. Now boil 21/2 cups of water in a bowl. Add in the cut neem stems. Now take a teaspoon of crystal salt and three cloves, add them to the water too. Now boil the mixture. Once the mixture has boiled for about five to six minutes, the water would have reduced and changed in color. Now remove from the fire. Let cool completely. Once completely cool, strain to get a clear mouthwash. Store this mouthwash in the fridge and use at least weekly twice or thrice regularly. Regular use will prevent tooth decay and reduce gum inflammation. For this mouthwash, we're using only the stems. We can make this mouthwash with neem leaves too but it makes the mouthwash too bitter so I prefer to use only the stems. If you use only the stems, it won't be as bitter but it'll be equally effective. To use, take 2 tablespoons of the mouthwash and swish it around your mouth. Spit it out and rinse your mouth.
